Catching Up

We have had a lot going on for the past few weeks so I'm going to try and update on everything. The weekend of Memorial Day we had debated on going to Pickwick with Austin's family because my sweet Paw Paw had been fighting ALS Leukemia and was put in the hospital with pneumonia. We had visited several times that week and on Friday night he was alert and talking so before I left that night he told me he loved me and he would see me later so we made the decision to go on Saturday afternoon to the lake. I have been very anxious about putting Mize in a boat to see if he would like it since our summers are usually spent on our boat or around water. When we arrived that afternoon we sat out on the dock and just enjoyed being outside. On Sunday morning Mize woke up early so we went out on the patio so we wouldn't wake anyone and I then learned that my Paw Paw has passed away early that morning. He was such a wonderful man and I just hate that Mize won't remember him but I'm glad we have lots of pictures to show him as he get older.
We decided to take Mize on a short boat trip before we headed home to see what he would do and I guess you would say he liked it. We sat at the front of the boat and the water was so rough we were soaked by the end of the trip but he never uttered a sound YAAAYYY!!! He also helped daddy drive and of course loved that!! So his first trip to Pappys and PaPA Rod's was short but we had a great time.

After we made it home we went to visit with my Maw Maw and the rest of the family and everyone was holding up pretty good but we all knew the next few days were going to hard. My Paw Paw was loved by many and for the ones that didn't know him he was a godly man. He was a Gideon and loved to go to the jails to preach,  praying he would hopefully turn someone's life around. I know there were many he did just that. That is is one of the reasons the next part is so special.  The night of the services Paw Paw's preacher came up to Austin and asked if Mize was the youngest grandchild and he is but Paw Paw had given him his bible about six months ago. He had been preaching out of the bible since then but due to the situation he wanted to keep it in the family. He told us he was going to preach out of it for the service and then he would give it to Mize to have. This meant the world to us because we knew that there would be all kind of special notes throughout the bible,  and of course it was. I know this would make my Paw Paw's day and I'm sure he is smiling. I promised I would keep it safe and my dad made me promise to read this bible to Mize so before he goes to bed we read  bible verses. Here are some pics of my sweet Paw Paw and Mize.
